Minimally invasive breast augmentation (MIA)

Minimally invasive breast augmentation (MIA)

What is it?

Minimally invasive breast augmentation, often called MIA, increases breast volume through a very short incision, usually in the armpit fold, with small implants and a technique that preserves the tissues.

Who is it for?

It is intended for people who want a moderate, natural-looking augmentation with a quick recovery. The indication is decided during the consultation according to anatomy, skin quality and desired volume.

How it is done

Consultation, examination and choice of implant; pre-operative tests; short procedure, usually as a day case.

Anaesthesia

Depending on the case, local anaesthesia with sedation or general anaesthesia, decided with the anaesthetist.

Recovery

Recovery is generally simpler than with a conventional technique; daily activities can often be resumed quickly, with sport resumed later on the surgeon's advice.

The result

The result settles within a few weeks. It depends on each anatomy and cannot be guaranteed.

Risks

Like any procedure, this one carries risks that are rare but real (infection, haematoma, healing problems, asymmetry, reaction to anaesthesia...). They are explained in detail during the consultation, with written information.

The information on this website is general and does not replace a medical consultation. Every surgical or medical procedure carries risks. For cosmetic surgery, French law requires a reflection period of at least 15 days between the detailed quote and the procedure.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the scar?

Usually in the armpit fold, very short, which makes it hardly visible.

Is it suitable for a large augmentation?

This approach is mainly suited to moderate augmentations; the indication is discussed during the consultation.

How long between the consultation and the procedure?

For cosmetic surgery, French law requires a reflection period of at least 15 days after the detailed quote is given.

Where does the procedure take place?

The consultation takes place at the practice, 11 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, 75008 Paris. Surgical procedures are performed in an authorised facility.

I live abroad: how should I organise my trip?

Contact the practice by phone or e-mail. A first consultation in Paris is required; then plan for the 15-day reflection period and stay long enough after the procedure for the first follow-up visits.
